Dr. John Latoysonere Jefferys

Biography

Slave-owner on Nevis, reportedly indebted at his death in 1801.

  1. Under the will of John Latoysonere Jefferys made 12/11/1788 he left £100 to his cousin Carew Bowden Brodbelt, and £50 p.a. currency to Miss Frances Symonds for her care of his children. He left £3000 to his younger children John, George and Frances Mary Jefferys, to be laid out on good security in the West Indies. He left James Jefferys, the son of James Connor Jefferys, £50 p.a. until 14 and then £100 apprentice fee, and he appointed James Connor Jefferys as his manager on Nevis at £200 currency p.a. He entailed his estates and 'negroes' to his son Peter Jefferys.
