Nathaniel Webb III

Biography

  1. Son of Nathaniel Webb MP (q.v.). Bequeathed the Grove estate in Montserrat by his father in 1786 (subject to the raising of a capital sum for his brother Willis John Webb.) Born 23/05/1760 and baptised in Marylebone, London, 23/06/1760.

  2. Nathaniel Webb's marriage settlement is outlined in an indenture dated 19/11/1788 between: Nathaniel Webb of Savile Row, St James, Westminster, lieutenant in the Coldstream Guards in the first part; Harriot Ellen Hoare, spinster, an infant of 17 years and upwards, one of the two sisters and coheiresses of her late brother Henry Benjamin Hoare Esquire deceased) and Susannah Cecilia Hoare of Duchess Street, Middlesex, widow, the mother and guardian of Harriot Ellen Hoare of the second part; and Richard Hulse of Blackheath, Henry Smith of Twinwheel Lane London, Henry Hoare of Fleet Street and Henry Hugh Hoare of Fleet Street in the third part. A further indenture dated 06/10/1792 details the sale of the Grove Plantation to Joseph Herbert.

  3. Nathaniel Webb, age 80, Army Half Pay, was living at Hall Place, Harbledown, Kent, in the census of 1841 with Harriet age 69, Charlotte age 50, four male servants and seven female servants.

  4. Lieut. Col. Nathaniel Webb was buried at Harbledown 03/11/1842.

  5. The will of Nathaniel Webb of Harble Down Kent made in 1832 and proved 24/11/1842, is silent on property in Montserrat and left his unspecified real estate to his daughter Elizabeth Celia Webb: she in turn died 10/03/1861 at Hall Place Harbledown leaving £30,000.
