  1. John Kelly of Newtown and of Green Castle Jamaica and James Kelly of Newtown were brothers, sons of James Kelly of Cork and Mary French of Co. Mayo., Ireland. John died unmarried. James married Mary Frances, daughter of Augustine Fallon, and had 3 sons and 5 daughters. Will of James Kelly of Newtown Galway proved 11/10/1849. In the will he left to his son John the moiety of Jamaican estates left to him James Kelly by his [the testator's] brother John Kelly, as well as £3000, on condition that his son John accepted the estates as satisfaction of his [the son John's] demand for the slave compensation paid on the moiety of the Jamaican estates left to James Kelly by his uncle, also John Kelly, for life with remainder to his heirs.

In the Jamaica Almanac for 1812, Crescent Park is shown against John and James Kelly; by 1816 (and until 1838), it's shown against James only.

In the 1812 Jamaica Almanac, Green Castle in St Thomas-in-the-East is shown against John Kelly; by 1816 (and until 1838), it's shown against James Kelly, suggesting by its similar pattern of ownership that the James Kelly of Green Castle is the same man as the James Kelly of Crescent Park in St Ann.
