Biography

Robert Allwood of Harding Hall, judge of the Supreme Court in Jamaica.

  1. His daughter Ann[e] Rocke (1810-1859) married Francis Hartwell Henslowe (1811–1878) and emigrated to Australia in 1839. Henslowe was an eminent civil servant and composer in the 1850s and 60s. Robert Allwood's son Rev. Robert Allwood (1803-1891) became a clergyman and educationalist in Australia.

  2. Will of the Honourable Robert Allwood of the Island of Jamaica [made in 1838] proved 07/01/1839. He instructed his executors to pay the £300 currency for which he was indebted to his daughter Ann as her proportion of the estate of the late Mrs Rocke. He had he said earlier provided £2000 to each of his children Ann and Robert and instructed the payment of those amounts if not already paid. He left £2000 each to his daughter Mary and sons Thomas and James, and the interest on a further £2000 for his son John for life with remainder to James. He left his residuary estate equally among five of his children, Robert, Thomas, James, Ann and Mary.

  3. Robert Allwood married Susanna Tomlinson 13/01/1792. They had 9 children baptised in Jamaica between 1799 and 1813.
