Biography

  1. Possibly Rev. John Chambers who died 11/03/1835 in the 81st year of his age. 'He was ordained for the Perpetual Curacy of the Parish of Leck which he had hold [sic] till his death aperiod of 58 years, also of Anne his wife who died 03/08/1833 in the 78th year of her life.' A John Chambers Esq. Upper Dorset Street [no town shown] is also shown as Returning Officer for County Donegal 1834. The same source shows Rev. John Chambers at Fox Hall, Letterkenny.

  2. However, it is more likely to have been the Rev. John Chambers' nephew, also John Chambers, who named his eldest son Brooke Rynd Chambers in 1834. This John Chambers of Fox Hall, County Donegal, was born 21/03/1793, 3rd son of Brooke Chambers Esq., of Rock Hill (Justice of the Peace, High Sherrif of Donegal in 1798). His mother was Margaret, eldest daughter of Charles Colhoun, Esq., of Letterkenny, and granddaughter of William Richardson, Esq., of Drum, County Tyrone. John Chambers married 14/07/1826 Anne, eldest daughter of Charles Colhoun, Esq., of Letterkenny. They had 6 sons and 1 daughter.

  3. Brooke R. Chambers, Esq., Bengal Army, the eldest son of John Chambers Esq., of Free [sic] Hall m. Catherine daughter of Lt-Col. John Humfrey of Cavanacor Donegal, 09/09/1859 at Lifford Church. Brook [sic] Rynd Chambers Esq., Bengal Staff Corps, eldest son of John Chambers Esq., J.P. Fox Hall county Donegal married to Mary Caroline eldest daughter of J. Sheridan McLeod, R.M. Lifford 07/07/1863 at St Stephens Church Dublin.

  4. Brooke Rynd (q.v.) of Southampton Street [London] buried 15th October 1825 at St Paul's Covent Garden.
