Biography

Awarded with Rev. William Sloane Wilson (q.v.) the compensation for the enslaved people on Cradley estate on Tobago and two-thirds of the compensation for 122 enslaved people on another, currently unidentified, estate (possibly Montpelier) on Tobago as mortgagees. William Michell was identified in the will of Rev. William Sloane Wilson as the MP for Bodmin in Cornwall.

  1. The two men were related by marriage and were probably trustees for the marriage settlement of the Rev. Bennet or Bennett Michell and Matilda Euphemia Wilson, the Rev. William Sloane Wilson's sister. The Rev. Bennet Michell left under £5000 on his death in 1857.
