Biography

Rev. James Nurse, son of John Nurse of Barbados and his wife Elizabeth Hannah nee Bushell. Matriculated Worcester College, Oxford, 20/05/1817 aged 19; BA 1821; MA 1826; sometime of Lymington, died at Long Sutton vicarage, Somerset, 15/08/1839.

  1. Will of Rev. James Nurse clerk of Long Sutton Somerset proved 01/07/1840. In the will he left to his wife Mary Carpenter £100 p.a. 'arising from interest of legacy in Kirton's estate Barbados', and the interest also on £3000 currency held by Messrs Lee Haynes & co, of Liverpool; he left £3000 currency in the hands of J.H. Nurse to be equally divided among his children; and after his wife's death the £3000 currency and all the money due from Kirtons after his [the testator's] to the children of Joshua B. Nurse.
