Biography

  1. Henry, Margaret, Patrick and William Lalor were awarded compensation for the ownership of nine enslaved people jointly with Ann Webb in Manchester, Jamaica, in 1834. Ann Webb was the natural daughter of John Racker Webb, who was also the executor of the Patrick Lalor who had died by 1817. Therefore it seems likely that Henry, Margaret, Patrick and William Lalor were the heirs of Patrick Lalor the elder and that the enslaved people were previously or currently living on Patrick Lalor's estate Arnot Vale.

  2. William Lalor (born 18/12/1810), Henry Lalor (born 13/10/1812), Margaret Lalor (born 06/07/1814) and Sarah Goldring Lalor (born 26/04/1816), all free children of colour, were baptised in St Elizabeth 13/01/1820. Patrick Laylor and John Laylor, both "free quadroon", were baptised in St Elizabeth, 04/07/1819.

  3. According to the will of John Racker Webb, proved in 1830, "... and whereas the Estate of Patrick Lalor Deceased is also at present considerably Indebted to me Now in case any part of the monies now due to me from the said Patrick Lalors Estate shall remain unpaid at the time of my Decease I hereby release exonerate and discharge the said Estate and all persons when It doth shall or may concern of and from all such monies as shall so remain due to me..."
