Shipbroker and then stockbroker of Bristol, husband of Mary née Webb, the daughter of John Racker Webb (q.v.), from whom he inherited a share of Keynsham estate in Jamaica. He appears in the compensation records as Robert Padmore Clark.
Born Bristol c. 1800; in the census of 1841 (as R. P Clark) living in Stapleton, Gloucestershire, Ship broker, age 40, with his wife Mary and their children Robert 16, Henry 15, Marian [Maria?] 13, Emily 11, Laura 9, Lucretia 8, Thomas 7, Joseph 5, Martha 2 and John 1 month and two servants. In the census of 1851 (as Robert P Clark) at 5 Ellenbro' Buildings, Bristol, Stock + Share Broker, age 51 with his wife Mary (born Jamaica) and children Maria 23, Emily 21, Laura 19, Thomas E. 16, Joseph L. 15, Martha E. 11, John F. 9 and two servants.
His wife Mary Webb was the reputed daughter of John Racker Webb (q.v.) and Mary Wint, a free woman of colour. His brothers-in-law were Thomas Webb (q.v.) and George Bowley Medley (q.v.).
In partnership with Thomas Clark (almost certainly his father) and John Gilmore in Clark, Gilmore and Clark (q.v.) shipbrokers until the end of 1828 and then in partnership with his father in Thomas Clark & Son as shipbrokers and general agents until the end of 1836, after which he carried forward the business alone.
