Biography

Andrew Scott of Larchgrove who settled, with his wife Celia (q.v.), in Australia in 1839.

  1. Unsourced online family tree gives him born in Glasgow, son of Robert Scott (1745-1814) and Jean Buchanan (1751-?), both of Glasgow. Married 12/07/1821: "At Springbank, near Port-Glasgow, Andrew Scott, Esq. of Larchgrove, to Miss Celia King, daughter of the late Daniel King, Esq. of Tobago." Died in 1853 in Buninyong, Victoria, age 59.

  2. The Scott family settled at the Mount Buninyoing Station, Victoria, Australia, late in 1839. The station was established as a postal centre. Subsequently it became known as Scotsburn, named after them. Andrew and Celia Scott established a cattle farm of 16,000 acres. From 1843 the family began to run sheep and the family went on to purchase property in the western district of Victoria and in New South Wales.
