Awarded the compensation for 5 enslaved people in his own name in British Guiana; with his wife Anna Munro Nixon (q.v.) he also counterclaimed and then reached a settlement for part of the compensation for the Foulis estate in British Guiana.

  1. Born c. 1772. Of Ireland. Army commission 03/06/1793. Appointed a cornet in the 7th Light Dragoons, 1799; Major in the 4th West India Regiment 28/05/1807; Lt Colonel 4th West India Regiment 13/06/1811. Commanding officer of the 4th West India Regiment in the West Indies and then in Gibraltar until the regiment was reduced in December 1818.

  2. John Lyons Nixon served as Receiver-general in 1826 in what became British Guiana, and as Lt-Governor of St Kitts 1833-6. He was in England at the time of compensation and appears to have died at Clifton. Will of John Lyons Nixon Lieutenant-Governor of the Island of St Kitts in the West Indies late Lieutenant-Colonel in Her Majesty's Service of Clifton Gloucestershire proved 27/09/1836.

  3. John Lyons Nixon's [second] wife Anna Munro (née Barrett[e]) was the ward of William Munro of Berbice, the owner of Foulis who died in 1832.
