Bungay (Suffolk)
Queen Anne country house
Built 1704-1708 by John Buxton: sold to Col. William Windham in the 1720s. The heading of the BBC Norfolk article on the house, 'Earsham Hall built on slavery', is not substantiated by the text: in the 18th century, the house appears to have had no connectionwith slavery. Improvements were made after 1810 by William Windham Dalling whcih the article justifiably assumes were partly financed from slavery and partly from proceeds of agricultural lands around Earsham.
