Estate leased and then purchased by Anthony Hodges I (d. 1757). The original mediaeval house had been replaced by 1786 by a stucco and brick mansion, possibly built by his vendors and possibly by Hodges himself. This house was demolished and replaced by Hodges' descendants in 1852 and demolished c. 1908. The estate was in the hands of the family until c. 1894.
