Falkirk (Stirlingshire)
Purchased 1st Jan 1839
Existing house outside Falkirk, purchased by Patrick Waugh with farms at Bankhead and Banknock c. 1839/40, and repaired by Waugh, who changed the name to Arbuthnot House or Villa, apparently after his Jamaica estate. He left the house to is daughters, who sold it. A house of the same name is extant at Dorrator Road, Camelon Falkirk.

Jamaican-born widow of a prominent slave-owner; resident in Britain following the death of her husband in 1818. Accused - and acquitted - of the cruel treatment of some enslaved people whom she brought to Britain with her.
