Project 1619

The 1619 Project seeks to reframe the history of the USA by marking the year when the first enslaved Africans arrived on Virginia soil as the nation's foundational date. It aims to place the consequences of slavery and the contributions of black Americans at the very centre of US history. New York Times magazine. Has essays on the history of slavery in the US and its contemporary legacies. Note however that unless you have a subscription the number of articles you can read is limited.
