Trial of Joseph Brown, page 3 of 6. Joseph Brown was one of 60 people in Hanover tried by Court Martial for sedition in late January and early February 1832 following Sam Sharpe's War. Joseph Brown was the Head Driver and is the only one where the records show witnesses being cross-examined. Despite evidence from a missionary, James Watson, in his defence, Joseph Brown was found guilty and sentenced to death.
