The deceased was about 50 years age, and had passed a chequered life painfully varied by pecuniary reverses. He spent his youth under the fostering control of a former rector West Tarring, and through his connexion became entitled to property amounting to an independency. The will which bequeathed this good fortune was disputed some relatives of the testator, and the defence of his right (which was successful) cost the deceased nearly the worth of it. Afterwards he encountered serious vicissitudes, and lately discontinued an unprofitable business in Brighton. He has left a widow and several children, but none these are very young, though they are not all provided for..."
