William Bromley Rose

Probably William Bromley Rose (given in the compensation records as William B. Rose).

1. Born 10/04/1801 and baptised 06/01/1802 in Trelawney, Jamaica, son of John Cross Rose and his wife Mary Gillespie Rose née Watt. William Bromley Rose was the brother of Thomas Cossley Rose and Caroline Green Rose (both q.v.). William Bromley Rose died in St Ann, Jamaica, and was buried 22/10/1864 age 63.

2. There are two records of marriages/children for William Bromley Rose. A daughter, Roseville Susanna Rose was born 29/06/1830 in St George, Jamaica, to William Bromly Rose and Susanna Rose - possibly this was a daughter of a first marriage. Roseville S. C. Rose, daughter of W.B. Rose, died in 1841 age 11years and 3 months and was buried 09/10/1841 in St Ann. "William Bromly Rose Esquire and Eleanora Nembhard Widow were married by Licence 28th Novr 1836 by T.C. Rose." This Eleanora Nembhard was nee Parke and claimed compensation as tenant-for-life under the will of her first husband John Frederick Nembhard for Hermitage estate in St Ann, Jamaica. A son Bromley William Rose was baptised 29/12/1839 in St Ann, parents Willm. Bromley Rose and Eleanor.

3. Eleanor Parke's sister Mary reportedly married Samuel Whitehorne Rose 06/01/1801 in St Ann. Although this does not sit entirely comfortably with the birth of a child to Eleanor Parke almost 40 years later, the will of William Parke of the Thicketts (q.v.) tends to support that c. 1816 he had a married daughter Mary Rose and four unmarried daughters including Eleanor.
