Biography

Bristol rentier, awarded the compensation for the enslaved on the Acton estate in Trelawney Jamaica as executor and heir-at-law of her brother John Palmer Mountague, after counterclaiming in succession to either Mary Dehany Mountague (q.v.) or to Mary Mountague (q.v.).

  1. Will of John Palmer Mountague of St James Jamaica proved 16/12/1833. John Palmer Montague was shown as 'merchant Bristol' when he bought 1/8th share in the Etheldred from R[alph] Montague in 1820.

  2. Susan Mountague aged 52 fundholder was head of household at 7 Charlotte Street St Augustine Bristol with cousin Henrietta Bernard in 1861. Death of Susan [sic] James Mountague aged 85 registered Bristol Q4 1894. Will of Susanna James Mountague of 34 Berkeley Square St Augustine Bristol spinster who died 7/10/1894 proved 1/11/1894 by Sir Charles Edward Bernard and Charlotte Christian Bernard spinster, effects £20,280 15s 11d.
