Biography

The estates were owned by the Foster family. The beneficiaries of the trusts held by the two Earls have not yet been identified: the Earl of Thanet was trustee under the will of Joseph Foster Barham II (q.v.) and the Earl of Verulam was related by marriage to John Barham (q.v., under John [Foster] Barham), but no firm connection has yet been established.
