Biography

Eldest surviving son of George Crawford Ricketts and Frances Bourke, brother of London merchant John Bourke Ricketts (c. 1794-1850) and of Sir George William Ricketts (1791-1831).

  1. Thomas Bourke Ricketts first wife Harriet Loftus was the daughter of the MP (for Great Yarmouth and Tamworth succesively 1796-1818) General Loftus. Letters of administration granted 26/05/1864 for the estate of Thomas Bourke Ricketts late of Combe in the County of Herefordshire who died 23/04/1864 at 20 Seymour Street St Marylebone to George Crawford Ricketts of Combe aforesaid the son, effects under £50.

  2. "George Crawford Ricketts, esq. of Gray’s-inn, who, being called to the bar in 1772, went out to Jamaica, where he practised as a barrister for many years, until appointed his majesty’s attorney and advocate-general, and a member of the honourable council of that island. Returning to England in 1802, he settled at Ayshford Hall, near Ludlow, and, in four years after, purchased the estate of Combe, in Herefordshire. He married, 19th March, 1775, Frances, youngest daughter of Nicholas Bourke, esq. by Elizabeth, daughter of Thomas Fearon, esq. for several years chief-justice of the island of Jamaica, and had issue (1) George Crawford (d. young) (2) Thomas-Bourke his heir..."
