Biography

There were two separate awards to a James Derbyshire, one in St Catherine and one in St John. They were possibly the same man.

  1. James Derbyshire of St Catherine, storekeeper, was one of the trustees and executors of Peter McKie (will written in 1837 and proved in 1840). Isabella Sophia Derbyshire, wife of James Derbyshire, was one of the residuary devisees in the will of her brother Bartholomew Ibbott Williams (q.v.), made in 1839 and proved in 1847.

  2. A James Derbyshire, marrried, age about 78 years, "Justice of the Peace Gentleman" died 10/09/1879 at Strathnaver. The informant was Esther S. Ryers, present at death, married woman, Strathnaver.
