James Smith Wallen

1807 - 19th Jan 1863

Biography

Son of Major Edward Pinnock Wallen and Eliza Archange Ford. Christened 23/10/1807. Attended Aberdeen University 1824-1828. Physician in Ontario, Canada, 1829-1863. Reportedly inherited 'a very handsome property' in Jamaica from his aunt Mary Player Smith (q.v.). Although her will, in which there is no mention of her nephew, does not support this, in her half-brother Edward Pinnock Wallen's will, proved in 1822, he excluded his son James Smith Wallen on the basis that Mary Player Smith and James Smith had promised to provide for him.
