Biography

Of Belfast, counterclaimed with Robert Simms the younger for the enslaved people on Matthews Constitution Hill in Antigua as mortgagees and with John Cunningham of Antrim as mortgagee on Watsons in Antigua. The former estate had belonged to Mr Horsford and Lord James O'Bryen (q.v.), who sold it for £18,000 to Robert Hyndman of Dublin (q.v.); in the latter, John Jameson of Dublin also counterclaimed as assignee of Robert Hyndman and John Elliot Hyndman. While is not yet known how John Cunningham's claims arose, they were almost certainly aasociated with the Hyndman bankruptcy.
