Biography

Given as Mrs Mary McKenzie in the compensation records. Widow of Peter Mackenzie of Twickenham (q.v.), into marriage with whom she appears to have brought part-ownership of Harmony Hall and of the enslaved people on it.

  1. Will of Mary Mackenzie widow of Twickenham proved 05/08/1836. In the will she left her entire estate to two daughters, Sarah Mackenzie Carmichael and Dorothy Parker Bellaris. Her third daughter, Mary Stevens Mackenzie, who married John Byng, later 1st Earl of Strafford, had predeceased her in 1806.
