Biography

Slave-owner, planter and attorney in Jamaica, dying in 1828. Married to Jane Rodon Christian (q.v.), they had six children baptised in Jamaica between 1810 and 1823. Presumably also the John Hewitt Smith, son of James Smith and his wife Debh., who was baptised in Clarendon, Jamaica, 07/05/1778.
