14th Sep 1799 - 23rd Jan 1863
Son of William Cunninghame Graham[e], grandson of Robert Cunninghame Graham (q.v.) and brother of Thomas Dunlop Douglas Cunningham[e] Graham (q.v.).
Robert Cunningham Cunninghame Graham of Gartmore and Finlaystone (sometime of Ardoch) - was born 14/09/1799 at Gartmore and was baptised almost immediately in the Port of Monteith Church as he was not expected to survive. Robert was given the middle name Cunningham (without the "e"), as was his father prior to his father, Robert Graham of Gartmore, inheriting the Finlaystone estate. He died in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, 23/01/1863.
There are two baptism records for him: 14/09/1799 and 15/11/1799, both in Port of Menteith parish records. His parents were William Cunninghame Cunninghame Graham and Ann Dickson/Dixon. The baptism record of his children inserted in the same parish records in March 1846 lists the dates and places of birth of his children, giving an indication of his whereabouts: William Cunninghame Bontine, born 1825 at Leamington, Warwickshire; Charlotte Fitzwilliam Graham, born 1826 at Finlayston, parish of Kilmalcolm; Archibald Spiers Graham, born 1828 at Finlayston; Anna Margaret Harriet Graham, born 1830 at Finlayston; Margaret Jane Graham, born 1834 at Finlayston; Robert Cunninghame Graham, born 1838 at Edinburgh; Frances Laura Mary Graham, born 1839 at Edinburgh; Mary Helen Isabella Graham, born 1842 at Frankfurt-in-the-Maine, Germany; Douglas Alexander Graham, born 1844 at Leamington. In 1851 he was a visitor in the household of Annie M. Spiers at Laurel Hill, Strlingshire, occpuation "landed proprietor" (his wife and children were living at this time at 21 Beauchamp Square, Leamington Priors).
Died 23/01/1863 at Castelnau House, Mortlake Surrey, according to Rubinstein. His grandson was Robert Cunninghame Graham (1852-1936), 'literary figure, traveller, radical MP and one of the founders of the SNP', in the ODNB.
