Biography

Daughter of Thomas Kaylett senior. Inherited 1/3 of the estate of her father Thomas Kaylett senior in trust according to the terms of her father's will when her only brother Thomas junior died without legitimate children in 1805. Mary was also the residuary legatee of her brother. Mary Kaylett married James Napper in Marylebone, 01/12/1796. Death 08/05/1820 "At Portsea, James Napper Esq. formerly surgeon at Hampstead, Middlesex." Mary remarried, at Stafford, 11/10/1820, to John Brettell.

Gentleman's Magazine Vol. 127 p. 477 [May 1820]. In the will of John Brettell of Brownhills near Burslem Staffordshire [but now at Antwerp] was proved 11/11/1826, PROB 11/1718/201 he named his wife as Mary.

  1. PROB 11/1893/191. The will identifies Ann Zimme as her sister, consistent with the will of Thomas Kaylet jun. and referred to an annuity from her husband John Brettell of Burslem.
