Ann Peyton Nembhard (née Hamilton)

Biography

Wife of Dr John Nembhard of Konigsburgh estate whom she married 03/11/1753. Moved from Jamaica to London about 1799 and lived in Beaumont Street, Marylebone. Died 25/07/1806 and buried at Richmond, Surrey.

One of two main heirs of her uncle Daniel Peyton (q.v.) from whom she inherited "all those lands that I may have any claim or title to in the parish of St Mary, Jamaica, and more particularly one piece of land whereon my mansion house is erected commonly called Peytons Cope, patented by Thomas Marshall together with 150 acres of land adjoining thereto, being part and parcel of a larger run patented by Valentine Haughton and which I purchased of Joshua Newell and Margaret his wife." Her husband John was bequeathed "my tract of land commonly known as Tobarts Ridge and which was patented by my father the late Andrew Peyton, subject neverthe less to be sold for payment of my debts and legacies in case my assets exclusive of these particularly devised should not be deficient."

To my granddaughters Anna Hibbert and Letitia Hibbert, children of my daughter Letitia, wife of Robert Hibbert of Pains Hill, Surrey, £100 each.

To my granddaughter Letitia Nembhard, daughter of my son Ballard Beckford Nembhard of Kingston, Jamaica, £1000.

All residue to my daughters Charlotte Nembhard, now residing with me, and in default of her issue to my sons Ballard Beckford Nembhard and William Nembhard of the parish of St Mary Jamaica.

I appoint Robert Hibbert and Theo. Hibbert, the younger, of Upper Wimpole Street, Esq., my executors.
