Biography

Slave-owner in Jamaica, owner of Enfield Pen. The estate passed to Mrs Sarah Hilton, his widow, and then to Allen and John Preston Hilton, his sons.

  1. Allen, son of John Hilton and his wife Sarah, was born [blank] and baptised 02/01/1783 in St Ann. Younger brother of James Lawrence Hilton (q.v.).

  2. John Proctor (born 10/08/1805) and Allen (born 16/12/1806), sons of Allen and Sarah Hilton, baptised in St Ann, 28/10/1808.

  3. Allen Hilton and Diana, an enslaved person, intended to leave the island of Jamaica, 03/04/1815.

  4. Dr [sic] Allen Hilton died at Enfield Pen, St Ann, 15/06/1818.
