Biography

Daughter and co-heiress of Walter Paisley, who carried her property including her property in enslaved people, into marriage with Rev. Evan James (q.v.) of Stepney in 1818. Died at some point between 1823 and 1825.

  1. Sarah Ann, daughter of Walter Paisley and his wife Sarah Ann, born 31/08/1792 and baptised 27/07/1799 in St Ann, Jamaica.

  2. Proclamation of banns of Sarah Ann Paisley of St Luke's Chelsea and Rev. Evan James of St Dunstan Stepney, 12/10/1818.

  3. Their daughters Sarah Helena was baptised 23/06/1820 at St Dunstan Stepney, Mary Ann was born 03/01/1822 and baptised 04/01/1822 at St Dunstan and All Saints Stepney. A son to the couple, Thomas was baptised at St Dunstan 16/08/1825, suggesting Sarah Ann may have died in childbirth as she was given as deceased in the Jamaica Almanacs from 1825.
