Biography

Richard Tyrrell, Admiral of the White 1762, Commander-in-Chief of the Leewards. Through his wife Russell Chester nee Tankard, Richard Tyrrell came to own Tankard's estate, which became Tyrrell's, and which he left after the death of Sarah Aylon his intended second wife to his nephew Richard Tyrrell Barnes, charged with £10,000 for the children of his two sisters Cath. Reily and Ann Barnes.

  1. Will of Richard Tyrrell, now Rear Admiral of the White and Commander in Chief of HM Fleet in Antigua was proved 05/08/1766. In the will he disposed of slave-property in Jamaica as well as Antigua, the former yet to be identified. He also held a mortgage of £5000 on an estate that had belonged to Henry Sharpe on St Kitts but which Sharpe had sold subject to the mortgage: Tyrrell left this amount to cover his debts.
