Biography

Resident slave-owner of Barbados, dying in 1816 or 1817, although the will of Richard Cobham of the island of Barbados made in 1816 was not proved in London until 27/02/1847. In the will he provided that if his Stepney estate was sold in his lifetime his wife was to have an annuity of £300 p.a.; he also left her two male and two female 'servants.' He left four of his children £2000 currency each before the remainder of his estate was divided among his nine children.
