Biography

The Barrow family was connected to the Baruch-Lousada and Montefiore families who settled in various parts of the Caribbean as well as Britain. Jacob and Joseph Barrow were merchants in Bridgetown and London (until 1798 at least) who were also engaged in the slave trade.

  1. Will of Jacob Barrow merchant of [Devonshire Square] St Botolph Bishopsgate 28/09/1798. He left monetary legacies to Jewish institutions in London, £5000 and an annuity of £300 p.a. to his wife Jael [sp?], and £5000 and three messuages in Swan Street otherwise Jews Street in Bridgetown Barbados to his son Simon Barrow.
