Biography

Owner of Wagwater estate in St Mary Jamaica. Reportedly the son of the grand-daughter of Oliver Cromwell.

  1. Will of Henry Bendysh of [Bedford Row] St Andrew Holborn proved 28/05/1740. He left his property in Jamaica to his son Henry on the condition that his son paid one-third of the profits to his [the testator's] wife Martha and another third to his [the testator's] daughter Elizabeth for life. After his wife's death his son Henry was to pay her one-third share of the profits to Mary Berners [his sister] until she had received £500. He left land in Herefordshire to his wife for life and then to his son Henry subject to £2000 charged on it for Elizabeth; he left his lands in Great Yarmouth to Henry and his land in Worcesteshire to Elizabeth. A series of administrations were granted for specific assets between 1741 and 1820.

  2. Estate of Henry Bendysh late of London in Great Britain Esq. deceased. Account filed by John Harris and Mark Hall of the parish of St. Mary. The receipt and application of such effector having been left to the said Mark Hall. No produce received since 29th Sep 1740.
