Israel Wilkes

Biography

Son of malt distiller Israel Wilkes (1698-1761) of Clerkenwell, brother of John Wilkes (1725-1797), married to Elizabeth nee De Ponthieu, and partner with Josias, Henry and John De Ponthieu. Widower of New York when administration was granted to John De Ponthieu, attorney for his only children John De Ponthieu Wilkes, Charles Wilkes, and Frances, wife of Lewis Simond in New York, September 1809.
