Sir Thomas Lynch

Biography

Eldest son of Theophilus Lynch, born 1634. Captain in the army 1660. In England 1665-1670. Knighted 03/12/1670 as "Sr Thomas Lynch of Rixton hall in Great Sonkey". Lieutenant-Governor of Jamaica 1670-1674. Returned to England 1675, lived for a year in Leicester Fields. Purchased the manor of Esher in 1679-1680. Sailed to Jamaica in late 1681. Lady Lynch died at Esher in September 1681. Sir Thomas remarried, to Mary, daughter and co-heiress of Thomas Temple of Frankton in Warwickshire. Governor of Jamaica 1682-1684. Died in office 24/08/1684.

Total value of estate at probate: £1236.13 Jamaican currency of which £169 currency was the value of enslaved people. Estate valuation included £8.53 currency cash, £0 currency debts and £520.4 currency plate.
