Christopher Gardiner

???? - 1789

Biography

Husband of Elizabeth, a legatee under the will of her uncle Hon. Peter Mackenzie of Esher (q.v.), the previous owner of Flint River, who left it to his nephew John Mackenzie, Lord Macleod (q.v.). Before the latter's death, the estate shown as the property of Christopher Gardiner.

  1. Will of Christopher Gardiner of Esher Surrey [and of Flynt River] proved 28/03/1789. The will was made when he was on board the Grantham parquet en route to Jamaica. He left everything to his wife Elizabeth on condition that she paid an annuity of £30 p.a. to Mrs Susanna Hatton alias Pulsford of 13 Barlow Street and £30 p.a. to her daughter Elizabeth Hatton alias Pulsford, with further provision to pay the annual sum to 'her' daughter Susan and son Christopher for their lives [the relationships are ambiguous but this appears to be an outside family]. 'All my other relations and expectants I leave to the goodness of my wife's heart.'
