Biography

Son of Nathaniel Clayton and his wife Dorothy nee Atkinson. Trustee and executor of his uncle George Atkinson (d. 1814). Born 19/11/1787 and baptised 20/12/1787 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Not identified in the 1841 census. A visitor at 7 Suffolk Street, Westminster, age 63, unmarried, in 1851, barrister (not practising). Death of Nathaniel Clayton registered Q3 1856 in Hexham, Newcastle-upon-Tyne. The will of Nathaniel Clayton of The Chesters, Nothumberland Esquire proved 19/09/1856, bequeathing everything to his brother John Clayton who is also named as sole executor.

  1. Nathaniel Clayton left £100,000 (York PC) on his death.
