Biography

  1. Wife of William Julius of Mansion estate in St Kitts (died 1780). Annuitant for £300 per annum secured on the estate.

  2. Two descendants of William Julius and Jane Smith Julius nee Edwards have entries in the ODNB which represent imperial legacies in Australasia: Churchill Julius as 'bishop of Christchurch and Archbishop of New Zealand' and Churchill Julius's son Sir George Alfred Julius as 'engineer and public servant.' Churchill Julius (1847-1938) was William Julius' great-grandson, the son of Frederic Gilder Julius (a surgeon at Richmond, Surrey) and grandson of George Charles Julius, born in St Kitts c. 1775, the son of William Julius and Jane Smith Julius. In the will (proved 1832) of Jane Smith Julius spinster, William and Jane Smith nee Edwards' daughter, she showed her brother George Charles Julius as of Richmond Surrey.

  3. Born in St Kitts, 1734, daughter of Dr Robert Edwards of Antigua and Catherine nee Julius. Married William Julius c. 1753. Children Caroline Charles (1753/4-1836), Rev. William John (1755-1810), Anne Mary (1756-1768), Jane Smith (1757-1832), William (1757-1771), Robert Edwards (bap. 1757-1759), Captain Robert Edwards (1759-1785), John James (1761-), Louisa Caroline (1763-1845), Charles Smith (1765-), Nancy (1768-1768), Dr George Charles (1775-1866).

  4. The baptism and death records of his children place Jane Smith Julius at: Marylebone in 1756 (baptism of Ann Mary); Wokingham in 1757 (baptism of twins Jane Smith and Robert Edwards); Wokingham in 1759 (baptism of Robert); Wokingham in 1761 (baptism and burial of John James); Marylebone in 1764 (baptism of Louisa Caroline); Wimpole Street in 1765 (birth of Charles Smith); Wimpole Street in 1768 (death of Nancy). Their seat in Wokingham was Holthouse.

  5. Moved to 15 Pritchard Street, Bristol, after the death of her husband in 1780. Died at Bristol, 12/07/1823 age 100 [sic].

To my son George Charles Julius a ring to the value of 5 guineas as a token of affection. As he possesses an ample fortune and my daughter Jane Smith Julius's income is considerably reduced in consequence of a change in public affairs, all my residue to said daughter who is sole executor.
