Biography

London East India merchant, partner in Rickards Mackintosh. Retired as partner in 1831, shortly before the collapse of the firm in 1833. His own fortune survived intact.

  1. In 1861 Eneas Mackintosh aged 76, fundholder born Scotland Invernesshire was living at 17 Montague Street with a visitor Eleanor Freeman born India. He died in 1864 late of Montague Square leaving £160,000. The identification of this man as the Aeneas Mackintosh of Rickards Mackintosh is supported by the presence as an executor of a nephew, Lachlan Mackintosh Rate: successors in Rickards Mackintosh were surnamed Rate.
