Tobias Frere in 1851 aged 56 fundholder born Chiswick was living with his wife Cassandra aged 66 born Barbados in Whitchurch Hampshire: he died in 1865 at Stamford Brook leaving £70,000.

Jamaican-born widow of a prominent slave-owner; resident in Britain following the death of her husband in 1818. Accused - and acquitted - of the cruel treatment of some enslaved people whom she brought to Britain with her.
The Buff Bay plantation was a sugar estate next to the Buff Bay River, south of Charlestown in Jamaica. By 1839, the estate was 840 acres.
