Biography

Owner of Knowsley estate in St Andrew, Jamaica and another estate not yet traced by LBS which he named as Mount Gabriel in his will. Deceased c. 1809, probably in Liverpool although no death-record or burial record has been found for him by LBS.

  1. Will of Thomas Berry [late of the parish of St Andrew Jamaica] of Liverpool [made in 1808] proved 31/07/1809. He left £600 to his reputed son also Thomas Berry now apprenticed to Mr Orwell of Liverpool 'sadler', the £600 charged with the costs of freeing Betty Cunningham of his Mount Gabriel estate. He also instructed his executors to free William Berry on his Knowsley estate. He left his estates (other than his freehold at Mile End in Liverpool, which he left in trust for his grandson Thomas Berry Horsfall) and his enslaved people in trust for his daughter Dorothy Hall Horsfall for life and then to her husband Charles Horsfall, and then to their children,
