Daughter of Grace Mary Whittle (d. 1819) and as such assumed to be a beneficiary with her siblings in the trust fund which included Peter's Rock and Mount Charles in St Andrew, Jamaica. Married James Chaine of Ballycraigy. One of their children was the MP for Antrim from 1874, James Chaine (1841-1885). Maria Chaine died 20/12/1892 at Larne Harbour, Antrim, a widow, effects £2310 4s 1d; probate was granted to her daugher Grace Mary Chaine.
