Biography

London mortgagee of Donald Malcolm on Montpelier in Hanover in Jamaica. The business of his sons Malcolm and George James Ross of Dowgate Hill failed in 1819.

  1. The Petition to HM King George III for the establishment of Tain Royal Academy in 1807 lists Malcolm Ross of Red Lyon Square as being a subscriber of £50 and upwards towards "defraying the expense of erecting building and endowing an Academy".

  2. Will of Malcolm Ross of Red Lion Square proved 06/08/1817.

  3. The annuity to his sister Abigail bequeathed in Malcolm Ross's will suggests she was the Abigail Ross, daughter of David Ross and his wife Katharine nee Ross baptised in Tain, 07/07/1769, father described as "mercht. in town". No baptism for Malcolm has been found.
