Biography

  1. Gerrard Halsted, eldest son of John Halsted of St Dorothy (died c. 1721) and his wife Elizabeth. Baptised in St Catherine, Jamaica, 16/11/1697. Attended Mr Hall's school in Chelsea. Admitted as a pensioner to Trinity College, Cambridge, 16/08/1715, age 17. Father of Gerrard John Halsted (born c. 1721). Husband of Barbara Ermin (widow of Chelsea in 1725).

  2. Gerrard Halsted of St Thomas-in-the-Vale, Esquire. Estate probated in Jamaica in 1721. Slave-ownership at probate: 121 of whom 69 were listed as male and 52 as female. 25 were listed as boys, girls or children. Total value of estate at probate: £4372.63 Jamaican currency of which £3540 currency was the value of enslaved people. Estate valuation included £0 currency cash, £0 currency debts and £30 currency plate.
