Biography

Absentee slave-owner of Nevis, widow of Thomas Beauchamp and mother of Finetta Beauchamp (q.v.).

  1. Will of Perleta [or Perletta] Beauchamp widow of East Greenwich Kent [made in 1748] proved 06/09/1750. In the will she left the three estates of her late husband Thomas Beauchamp on Nevis - identified as Saddle Hill and Whitehall in Figgtree [sic] and the Mountain - to her daughters Martha and Finetta. She referred to a deceased son Meese.

  2. The will of Martha Beauchamp of East Greenwich was proved 02/08/1763. She left her share of the estates inherited from her mother to her sister Finetta.

  3. The Beauchamp family are part of the history of Myrtilla, an enslaved woman buried at Oxhill, Warwickshire, the village from which Perletta Beauchamp nee Meese came.
