Biography

Almost certainly John Nesbitt II, nephew of John Nesbitt I. The counter-claimant John Nesbitt of London in Grenada 608 was definitely of the same family as the ODNB [as executor of Arnold Nesbitt].

  1. The compensation records show John Nesbitt as [38] Mincing Lane. In 1835 John and Thos. Nesbitt merchants are shown at 38 Mincing La., and Gunshot Wharf, Tooley Street. In 1803 Nesbitt and Rolleston were shown at 16 Tokenhouse Yard; by 1815 John Nesbitt is shown at 30 Tokenhouse Yard; in 1817-9 John Nesbitt (Irish provision merchant) is shown at 30 Tokenhouse Yard and J. Nesbitt (Irish provision merchant) is shown at Morgan's Lane Tooley Street. In 1825 John Nesbitt appears separately as Irish provision merchant at Morgan's la., Tooley Street and as merchant at 30 Tokenhouse Yard.
