Major slave-owner on Nevis, and President of the Council there until c. 1841, for three of whose estates the compensation was awarded to trustees of the bankrupt London merchants Plummer and Wilson, and for another two the compensation was awarded to administrators of the mortgagee William Mills (q.v.). James Daniell reportedly married [first?] Sarah daughter of William Archibald Maynard. She was baptised at the St. George Gingerland Parish Church on 24 April, 1787.
