Biography

Eliza Tucker Dalzell widow appealed the award for St Vincent nos. 689 and 690 to the Privy Council. She had been in Britain to pursue compensation in the 1830s. She was probably the daughter of Robert Dickinson or Dickenson (q.v.), and possibly sister of Catherine French (q.v.) and William Tucker Dickinson, and also possibly the widow of the Hon. John Dalzell (q.v.). It seems highly likely that she was a relative, probably mother, of Rev. William Tucker Dickinson Dalzell (1827-1899), physician, Confederate chaplain and clergyman of Shreveport, Louisiana, known to have been born on St Vincent in 1827.
